2X Adds Missing Features to Server 2008

The new 2X ApplicationServer 6.1 for Windows 2008 Terminal Server load balances and publishes
applications and desktops secure on to any Windows, Apple or Linux desktop.

Dallas/Irving, USA, 7. July 2008

Windows 2008 Server users can now run remote Windows applications and desktops seamlessly and secure on any Windows, Apple or Linux desktop. The new 2X ApplicationServer for Windows 2008 Terminal Server is available for free at: http://www.2x.com/applicationserver/download.html

Up to now, Windows 2008 Terminal Server application and desktop publishing only ran on Vista clients. Server Based Computing software typically installs in mixed OS environments and therefore needs a client OS and hardware independent approach. However, with 2X ApplicationServer, any Windows application or desktop can be run via a secure SSL connection from a Windows 2008 Terminal Server on all Windows, Linux or Mac desktops using any LAN or Internet connection by installing the very light 2X Client.
"With the 2X ApplicationServer 6.1 for Windows 2008, we want to address all those companies that use Windows 2008 Terminal Server as part of their IT infrastructure and need to run applications and desktops remotely and securely on any machine. Now they can. 2X ApplicationServer load balances and publishes applications and desktops from Win 2008 Terminal Server to any location" said Nikolaos Makris, 2X CEO.
About 2X ApplicationServer
2X ApplicationServer tunnels any Windows application or desktop onto remote computers, including Mac and Linux desktops without the need to install the application or desktop onto each user's machine. This saves significantly on administration and support.

New features

Windows 2008 Server 32 / 64 Bit support

Microsoft Sharepoint Case Study - Ziba Design

Design Firm Improves Customer Relationships with New Extranet Solution
Ziba Design, an internationally recognized design consulting firm with five offices worldwide, wanted to create a customer extranet that would provide a superior user experience. The company relied on cumbersome file transfer protocol (FTP) sites and e-mail to share files with customers. Helped by Microsoft© Gold Certified Partner Saltmine, Ziba is implementing an extranet based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007©. The look and feel of the new extranet closely reflects the clean, innovative designs and ease of use of the products and experiences the company creates. Because of this, and the improved collaboration tools Office SharePoint Server 2007 delivers, the company anticipates that the new extranet will help improve customer relationships. Additionally, the new solution has cost Ziba considerably less than it would have spent on alternate solutions.

Installing Ad Hoc iPhone Apps

As your app progresses, you'll probably want the chance to preview the app we're building for you. That's where "ad hoc" apps come in. Before your app is actually distributed and released to the iTunes store, we'll send you a copy of your app in a ZIP file so you can install it on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

What is Ad Hoc Distribution?

Ad Hoc Distribution allows you to try an application before it’s available in the iTunes App Store. This is how we distribute iPhone applications to beta customers.
These instructions assume you have a .zip file.
Developers, if you have any customers running Windows Vista, you’re better off distributing with an .ipa file, so that iTunes handles the unzipping. To create a .ipa, move your AppName.app directory into a new directory called Payload, then zip the Payload folder and change the file extension to .ipa

.

What You’ll Need

Before beginning the installation process you’ll need:

The .zip file for the application (usually AppName.app.AdHoc.zip)

The .mobileprovision file for the application (usually Ad_Hoc_Distribution_Profile.mobileprovision)

Your Device: the iPhone or iPod Touch whose UDID you emailed us previously

The computer you normally sync with your Device

We usually send the .zip and .mobileprovision files to you via email.

Installing the Application - Windows XP

If you have the .zip and .mobileprovision files in an email, save them to a convenient location, such as your Desktop.

Drag-and-drop the .mobileprovision file onto Library → Applications in iTunes. On the Mac, you can just drag it to the iTunes icon in your dock.

Extract the .zip file. To do this, right-click the .zip file and select Extract All… . Step through the wizard and accept the defaults by clicking Next.
WINDOWS VISTA USERS: The built-in “Extract All…” command corrupts the application so that it cannot be installed. You should try using a different zip program like WinZip or WinRar to extract the Zip file. Better yet, ask the application developer to send you the application as a .ipa file instead of a .zip file, then you don’t have to unzip it.

Find the .app folder (usually AppName.app).

Drag-and-drop the whole .app folder onto Library → Applications in iTunes. On the Mac, you can just drag it onto the iTunes icon in the dock.

Verify that the application shows up in Library → Applications. Note that it will not have its normal icon.

In iTunes, select your Device under Devices, choose the Application tab, and make sure that the new application is checked.

Sync your Device and try out the new app!
